Edisto Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. We believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities. Our mission is to bring people together in Orangeburg County to build homes, community, and opportunity.
We don't just build homes.
We build the foundation of community.
Edisto Habitat for Humanity collaborates with families, volunteers, local businesses, partner organizations, home sponsors, and individual donors to address the substandard housing conditions faced by many residents in our community.
Habitat family partners purchase their homes through zero- or low-interest mortgages, fostering generational wealth and creating opportunities for improved jobs, education, and more.
98th Home Groundbreaking CeremonyTimes & Democrat reporter Dionne Gleaton talks to Keyon Ellison about becoming a homeowner. Ellison shares the need of Edisto Habitat's work in Orangeburg and why becoming a homeowner was a goal she was determined to reach.
Keyon's advise, "Keep on pushing. Keep on pushing. You're time will come." The Premier Sponsor of this home is Walker Industries, West Fraiser is the Lumber Sponsor, and SwissKronos is the Flooring Sponsor. We would not be able to do this work without the support of our sponsors and volunteers! |

How Homeownership Works
Our Habitat Partner Families go through a vigorous vetting process and must complete 20 hours of financial education classes, dedicate 250 - 350 hours of sweat equity - the time they spend building the home and those of others.
We work to eliminate barriers to a better, healthier, more financially
stable life through these initiatives.
