Join us as we celebrate our Habitat Family Partner as we hand over the keys of the 100th Habitat home to she and her family. During the ceremony, you'll learn about Sherrell and her family's journey to homeownership, hear from inspirational community leaders, and learn how Edisto Habitat is opening doors to opportunity, even beyond homeownership. 

Stay after the ceremony to help put the finishing touches on the home and enjoy lunch.

We have officially broken ground on our 100th Home Block!

On Saturday, February 21, the 100th Home Block Ribbon Cutting and Celebration marked a historic milestone for Edisto Habitat for Humanity and our entire community. This achievement was made possible by the dedication and support of countless individuals and partners who have championed our mission over the years. During the celebration, the foundation of a new home stood as a powerful symbol of what our community can accomplish together. 

This moment belonged to so many, including our volunteers, sponsors, donors, our long list of faith-based partners, our extensive list of community partners, businesses, and foundations, our city officials and elected leaders at the local, state, and federal levels, and to the families who partner with us. Thank you to the very long list of those who helped us accomplish this milestone.

Welcome Home, Michael!

On August 6, we held our Cozy Home Dedication Ceremony and Volunteer Day in honor of our family partner, Michael! Leaders from the community and our Premier Home Sponsors shared encouraging words, inspiring the community to invest in the Habitat mission. Michael received the keys to his new home, opening the door to new possibilities. After the ceremony, the Claflin Women's Volleyball team helped put the final touches on the Cozy Home.

How Our Homeownership Program Works

Our Habitat Partner Families are required to meet three core criteria. Applicants undergo a rigorous vetting process and must complete financial education and homeownership classes. They are also required to contribute “sweat equity” by volunteering on Habitat construction sites in support of previously selected families and in the building of their own homes. Prior construction experience is not necessary. All volunteers are guided by Edisto Habitat's expert Build Crew Volunteers.

Since the formation of Edisto Habitat for Humanity in 1991, we have been providing families in Orangeburg and the surrounding areas with safe, healthy places to call home.

Over the past 35 years, we've proudly expanded our services to include financial stability and education, disaster awareness, preparedness, and recovery, workplace and job skills development, our Ramp Program in partnership with A Brush with Kindness, and our advocacy efforts at the federal, state, and local levels.

In early 2026, we'll break ground on our 100th Home Block, marking the occasion with our 100th Edisto Habitat home.
