Edisto Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. We believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities.
We don't just build homes.
We build the foundation of community.

Own a Home

Edisto Habitat for Humanity's work has a broad range of impacts, including impacts on health, environmental, and educational outcomes; civic and social engagement; the financial stability of Habitat families; and local economies.
In many families, owning a home would not be a reality without Edisto Habitat for Humanity, which provides families with a "hand-up" out of substandard housing and into a home of their own.

HABITAT FAMILY PARTNERSThe families we partner with work hard. They're expected to put in 250 - 350 hours of "sweat equity" to help build their new home and must take financial education and home repair classes. As they pay off their affordable mortgage, they're helping pay it forward to others needing shelter.

HOW HOMEOWNERSHIP WORKS
Our Habitat Partner Families go through a vigorous vetting process and must complete 20 hours of financial education classes, dedicate 250 - 350 hours of "sweat equity" by building their own homes alongside volunteers, and meet three criteria:
WE DON'T JUST BUILD HOUSES.
We build the foundation of community through these initiatives.
